Treatment

  • Photographic documentation of the painting and frame
  • Surface cleaning and separation of the canvas from the stretcher.
  • Consolidation of the paint layer
  • Cleaning and treatment of the frame and the support.
  • Securing the canvas to a new stretcher.
  • Chemical and mechanical cleaning of the paint layer to remove accumulated dirt from the passage of time and oxidized varnish.
  • Leveling of the ground layer.
  • Chromatic reintegration, using mimetic technique in small areas and rigatino in large gaps. This technique allows establishing a distinction between the restored areas and the
    original paint.
  • Application of a thin layer of isolating varnish.
